SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State first-year head coach
Michael Czepil announced today that forward Mark Lavrenov has signed to play with the Hornets, and will enroll as a freshman in the summer.
Lavrenov, a local product from Rocklin High School, becomes the first signee by Czepil as the Hornets' head coach. Lavrenov is also the Hornets' first signee of the early period.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mark and his family to our program," Czepil said. "Mark has a lot of the values and abilities we are looking for in the young men we are identifying, and couldn't be more excited that he has chosen to stay home for his collegiate career."

• A 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Rocklin, Calif.
• Ranked as the top power forward, and 12th best recruit in Northern California by Prep Hoops
• Entering his fourth season of varsity ball at Rocklin High School, and will graduate in the spring
• A three-year starter, Lavrenov has been named first team all-Sierra Foothill League every season of his career
• As a junior, he helped the Thunder to a 28-4 overall record, 8-2 league mark, and the program's first league title since 2009
• Has averaged a double-double in each of his first three seasons
• Already had 1,000 career points before the midway point of his junior season
• Last year, as a junior, he was named Sierra Foothill League co-MVP, first team all-Sac Joaquin Section, first team all-league, and tourney MVP at three different tournaments
• Also last year, he averaged 18.5 points and 11.4 rebounds while shooting 55% (226-413) from the field and averaging 5.3 trips to the free throw line per game
• Averaged 15.8 points and 10.0 rebounds as a sophomore, and 15.1 points and 10.8 rebounds as a freshman
• Received multiple Div. I offers before choosing Sacramento State
• Played travel ball for both the Oakland Soldiers and Lakeshow
