LEEBRICK OPENS NCAA MORGAN HILL REGIONAL

MORGAN HILL, Calif. — Sacramento State senior Casey Leebrick shot a 4-over par round of 76 during the opening round of the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional on Monday at The Institute Golf Club.

Leebrick opened the round with a birdie on the par-4 first. After two pars, he had a triple bogey on the par-4 fourth to move him to 2-over. A birdie on the par-4 sixth earned him one stroke back but he finished the back nine with bogeys on the par-5 seventh and par-4 ninth to stand at 3-over.

The back nine began with birdies on the par-4 10th and par-5 11th take Leebrick to 1-over. Those holes were followed by a bogey on the par-4 12th and three pars. A double bogey on the par-4 16th hole moved him to 4-over where he remained following two pars to end his round.

Missouri's Alfons Bondesson holds the individual lead at 5-under par. His score places him one stroke ahead of a trio of golfers. Mississippi State, which is ranked 18th nationally, is the team leader at 12-under. The Bulldogs are followed by Florida State (7-under), Pepperdine (4-under), Charlotte (3-under) and Baylor (3-under) in the top five.
