Box Score SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State secured singles wins from
Mark Keki,
Mate Voros,
Adam Chodur,
Jan Silva and
Ori Maior on the way to a 5-2 victory over Idaho on Saturday afternoon on campus.
The Hornets improved to 12-5 overall, 9-0 at home, and 5-2 in the Big Sky Conference. More importantly, Sacramento State, which was playing its final Big Sky Conference regular season match, has secured at least the No. 3 seed at the Big Sky Tournament in Phoenix on April 27-29.
As it stands now, the Hornets are the 3 seed, but some favorable outcomes from other teams during the final week of the regular season could catapult Sacramento State to the 2 seed and a first round bye at the postseason event.
Idaho, which was coming off a 5-2 road win at Montana, dropped to 10-8 overall and 3-2 in conference.
After dropping the doubles point, Sacramento State got singles wins from Keki at No. 1 (2-6, 6-2, 6-2), Voros at No. 2 (6-1, 7-6), Chodur at No. 3 (3-6, 6-4, 6-4), Silva at No. 4 (6-3, 6-4) and Maior at No. 5 (6-3, 7-6).
The win for Keki was his ninth straight, and improved the team's No. 1 player to 11-1 this season and 6-0 against conference competition.
"I liked the fight in our team after dropping the doubles point," Sacramento State head coach
Kevin Kurtz said. "It was a great performance by everybody, and we are looking forward to playing in the Big Sky Tournament in a couple weeks."
The Hornets' final regular season match will come on Wednesday at home vs. UC Davis at 2 p.m. Hornet seniors
Patrick Wong and Maior will be honored prior to the match.
