GAME PREVIEW
• Sacramento State (12-14, 5-8) will play its final two home games this week, beginning on Thursday vs. Weber State (13-13, 8-5). Tip at the Nest is set for 7 p.m.
• Thursday is also Greek Night at the Nest.
• The Hornets will look to improve upon their 8-3 home record. After starting the season 8-0 at home, the Hornets have dropped three straight at the Nest.
• Sacramento State is seeking its first win since a 67-48 win against Montana on Jan. 26.
• Since that time, the Hornets have dropped five straight games. That includes a pair of road losses last week at Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.
• With just five games left in the regular season, Sacramento State currently sits in a tie for sixth place in the Big Sky standings with Portland State.
• If the season ended today, the Hornets would be the No. 6 seed in the Big Sky Tournament (March 4-8 in Boise), and earn a first round bye at the postseason event. The top six teams receive a first round bye, making the final five regular season games huge.
• Weber State currently sits in third place, a half game ahead of fourth place Montana.
• The Wildcats have split their last six games, including last week's home win over Montana State (73-63) and home loss to Montana (74-69).
• In the teams' earlier meeting, Weber State beat the Hornets, 50-48, in Ogden on Jan. 21. In that game, the Hornets used a 9-0 run to tie the score at 48-48 with 23 seconds left.
• However, Weber State's Dillon Jones connected on a contested layup with six seconds remaining, and
Zach Chappell's running 12-footer missed as the buzzer sounded.
• The Hornets are 10-47 all-time against Weber State, including an 8-21 mark at home.
• Sacramento State has dropped four straight in the series since their last win over the Wildcats on March 11, 2020 in the first round of the Big Sky Tournament in Boise.
• Weber State is 5-8 on the road, and 3-3 against Big Sky opposition.
• Of the Hornets' eight conference losses, five went down to the final minute.
• The Hornets' 12 overall victories have already surpassed their win total from a season ago when the team finished 11-18.
• The Hornets are one win shy of matching their Big Sky win total from last year (6-14).
• Prior to last week's two losses, eight of the Hornets' first 11 Big Sky games had been decided by eight points or less.
• Weber State has the league's third best defense, liming opponent to 68.0 points per game. However, the Wildcats' offensive average of 66.7 ppg ranks 294th in the country.
