SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's golf team will return to Hawaii to compete at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic on Maui beginning on Thursday. The three round tournament will feature a single round on each day at the Royal Ka'anapali. Each day will start with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. PT.
The Hornets competed annually in the tournament from 2015-19. The streak stopped when the 2020 fall season was canceled due to COVID-19 but Sacramento State returned in 2021. This year's field features 20 teams including at least one from every time zone in the United States.

Team Notes
- Luke Dugger became the second Hornet to be named Big Sky Men's Golfer of the Week as he took home the honor following his efforts at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. Dugger shot 66-66-71-203 to tie for second overall. His total trails only Casey Leebrick who shot 202 at last season's Big Sky Championship on a par-70 setup.
- Jake Aberle previously was named the Big Sky Men's Golfer of the Week after leading the team at the Bill Cullum Invitational. Aberle shot 76-71-72-219 to tie for 11th overall.
- Zach Mate and Dugger are averaging par or better through three tournaments this season. Mate leads the trio with an average of 70.13 which includes seven of his eight rounds at par or better. Dugger dropped his scoring average to 71.56 and has four rounds of par or better.

The Last Time at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational
Sacramento State completed a record-breaking effort with an amazing individual performance during the final round of the 2021 Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate. Led by a 63 from Jonathan Tanihana, the Hornets were 12-under par as a team during the round and finished the tournament with a three-round total of 835. The team total broke the school tournament record of 837 which came at the 2015 Nick Watney Invitational. The third-round score of 272 was tied for the second lowest in school history. Tanihana's 63 tied the school third-round record and ranked second all-time behind Chad Wood's 62 in 2005.
