- Sacramento State's roster features 16 wide receivers, including six who combined to catch 139 passes for 2,022 yards and 10 touchdowns. Headlining the group is senior Pierre Williams who has cemented himself as on the best receivers in school history. Williams enters 2022 ranked fourth all-time at Sacramento State with 2,248 career receiving yards, is fifth with 135 receptions and tied for sixth with 15 touchdown catches. Williams has twice been named first team all-Big Sky, including in 2021 where he had 50 receptions for 764 yards. Early in the season he put together a streak where he had at least 121 yards in three consecutive games against UNI, Cal and Idaho State.
- Parker Clayton is the only other receiver on the team who has appeared in the last two seasons. Clayton has amassed 638 receiving yards and four touchdowns since coming to the Hornets as a walk-on in 2019 before earning a scholarship.
- Last season, the team was boosted by the production of three freshmen who all played large roles in the offense. Jared Gipson had 20 receptions for 379 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 19.0 yards per reception and helped the team to a win at then-No. 5 Montana where he had four grabs for 88 yards and two scores.
- Chris Miller matched Gipson with 20 receptions and finished the year with 339 yards and two touchdowns. Miller appeared in all 12 games, catching at least one pass in 10 contests.
- Devin Gandy caught 19 passes for 285 yards and a score. Gandy also proved to be electric on special teams, scoring on a 94-yard kickoff return against Portland State.
- Tao McClinton returns to wide receiver this year after seeing time at tight end in 2021. McClinton had 15 career receptions for 171 and a TD. He will be joined by returners Xavier Mason, Hunter Hall and Ty Smith.
- The newcomers to the receiving corps are made up of Troy transfer Kyran Griffin-Isom, JC transfers Bronson England, Carlos Hill and Sawyer Merrill and incoming freshmen Geordan Gaspard and Ashar Granger.
