SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State won the doubles point for the 12th straight match, and earned straight set singles wins from Mark Keki, Jan Silva and Rudolfs Aksenoks to beat Seattle U, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon on campus.
The Hornets improved to 2-0 on their month-long homestand, and are now 8-4 overall this season. Sacramento State blanked Portland State, 7-0, on Friday.
The match was stopped after Aksenoks' win as the Hornets already had the necessary four points for victory. Seattle saw its record drop to 4-12 with the loss.
The Hornets got doubles wins from Ori Maior/Silva at No. 2 by a 6-1 score, and Patrick Wong/Aksenoks at No. 3 by a 6-2 score. Sacramento State has now won a program-record 12 straight doubles points, securing the important tally in every match of the season.
Keki won his match at No. 1 (6-3, 6-3), Silva at No. 3 (6-4, 6-2) and Aksenoks at No. 5 (6-4, 6-3). Mate Voros, Maior and Hayden Rand were each winning when their matches when things were halted.
Both Keki and Aksonoks have won three straight singles matches. Aksenoks is 8-1 this season.
Sacramento State will return to action next week when it co-hosts the Golden State Invitational with UC Davis on March 11-12. The Hornets open the tournament at home on Friday vs. Nevada at 10 a.m.
