MEN’S TENNIS LANDS FIVE-PLAYER RECRUITING CLASS

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State head coach Kevin Kurtz announced that five players have signed with the program, and will enroll at the University in the fall.

The recruiting class is the last of Kurtz's tenure at Sacramento State, as the 21-year Hornet coaching veteran is retiring on Aug. 11. The class consists of four freshmen and a junior, spanning players from the United States, Portugal, France and Switzerland.

Adryan Ballestero
• Will be a freshman
• A 6-0, 180-pound native of Saint Barthelemy, France
• A 2023 graduate of  CNED in Lyon, France
• Played two years for Chateaurenard Tennis Club in France
• Ranked among the top 100 French junior players in 2020 and 2021
• Won a doubles title, and reached another final in the ITF Juniors Tour
• Won his first match on the ITF Senior Tour in 2024

Doni Gashi
• Will be a junior after playing two seasons (2024, 2025) at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas
• A 6-foot, 170-pound native of Adelaide, Australia
• Helped Tyler JC to NJCAA national championships both seasons with the Apaches
• Was named a first team All-American in doubles both years
• Played No. 4 singles, and No. 2 doubles as a sophomore (2025)
• A 2022 graduate of Marryatville High School in Adelaide
• An Albanian tennis player born and raised in Australia, he represents Kosovo in international competition

Freddie Healey 
• Will be a freshman
• A 6-1, 155-pound native of Algarve, Portugal
• A 2024 graduate of Aspire International School in Algarve
• Has an ITF ranking of No. 2393
• Has over an 11 UTR
• Father, James Healey, is a professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour

Justin Powell
• Will be a freshman
• A 5-10, 160-pound native of Maui, Hawaii
• A 2025 graduate of the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif.
• Moved from Hawaii to Southern California prior to his sophomore year of high school
• Attended Baldwin High School in Wailiuku, Hawaii, as a freshman
• Was the No. 1 singles player for Baldwin HS and the Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) singles champion as a freshman
• Also led Baldwin to the team title that season (2022)

Sebastian Vlahos
• Will be a freshman
• A 6-0, 155-pound native of Lausanne, Switzerland
• A 2025 graduate of Laurel Springs High School in Ojai, Calif.
• A three-time ITF singles quarterfinalist
• Won an ITF doubles championship in 2024
• Ranked among the top 1,000 ITF juniors players
• Ranked among the top 10 players in Switzerland for under 14s
