LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Sacramento State beach volleyball fell in three matches on the second and final day of the Big West Conference Beach Volleyball Challenge at Rosie's Dog Beach.
In the finale of the two-day tournament, the Hornets fell to a pair of nationally ranked opponents, including 5-0 defeats to 15th-ranked Long Beach State and ninth-ranked Hawai'i. Sacramento State also dropped a 5-0 decision to UC Davis.
The Hornets had to forfeit all six of their matches at the tournament at No. 5 doubles as two players are currently out with ailments - Ellie Tisko and McKenna Smith.
Today, the No. 4 duo of Karlee Soderberg/Caty Cordano took their opponent from nationally ranked Long Beach State to three sets, and the Hornets' No. 1 tandem of Caitlin Volkmann/Bridgette Smith took their opponent from UC Davis to three sets.
Sacramento State returns to action on Tuesday when the team plays at San Francisco at 3 p.m.
