FINAL NON-LEAGUE GAME; MEN'S HOOPS HOSTS STANISLAUS STATE ON WEDNESDAY

GAME PREVIEW

• Sacramento State (6-6) will play its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday vs. Stanislaus State (3-8). Tip-off at the Nest is set for 6 p.m.
• The Hornets had their three-game winning streak snapped in Wednesday's 59-49 loss at Cal State Fullerton. That game marked the team's ninth away from home.
• Sacramento State will be playing just its fourth home game of the season. The Hornets are 3-0 in the Nest, and two of those wins have come by two points.
• Dating back to last season, the Hornets have won five straight at home.
• A win on Wednesday would tie for Sacramento State's second most non-league victories (7) in the Div. I era (1991-pres.). The 2005-06 squad won nine games before the beginning of conference play, while both the 2019-20 and 2015-16 squads won seven.
• After Wednesday's game, the Hornets will open Big Sky Conference play at home on New Year's Eve against Portland State.
• Stanislaus State, a Div. II team that plays in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), will enter Wednesday's game with a 3-8 overall record, and 0-5 away from home.
• The Warriors lost at Pacific (80-56) in their last game on Dec. 13. That game was counted as an exhibition for Stanislaus State, as will Wednesday's contest against the Hornets. Stanislaus State plays two games against Div. I opposition, and both count as exhibitions.
• Sacramento State is 21-14 all-time against Stanislaus State, but has not played the Warriors since the Hornets were Div. II members. The last meeting between the teams was a 92-83 Hornet road win in 1988.
• All 35 meetings with Stanislaus State came during the Hornets' Div. II era (1948-1991).
• The Hornets and Warriors played in the same conference twice, including the Northern California Athletic Conference from 1982-84, and Far Western Conference from 1973-82.
• Sacramento State has won three straight in the series, and has not lost to the Warriors since a 68-67 road defeat in 1986.
• The Hornets are 13-5 at home in the series, including three straight wins in the Nest.
• Sacramento State's loss at Fullerton last Wednesday snapped a run of five straight games in which a Hornet contest came down to the closing minutes. The Hornets' game against Fullerton was close throughout, but the Titans led by at least nine points the final 4:30.
• As is the case with most mid-major programs, Sacramento State is playing a pair of non-Div. I teams this year. The first was a 58-43 home victory over UC Merced on Nov. 18.
• The Hornets' three non-league road wins (3-3) tied for most in the program's Div. I era (1991-pres.). The 2005-06 team also accomplished the feat.
