PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Riley Bell shot an even-par round of 71 and moved into a tie for 42nd place after the second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational on Tuesday at Poppy Hills GC.

Bell started his round with a bogey on the 10th hole and earned his first of five birdies on the par-4 12th two holes later. A double bogey on the par-4 13th took him to 2-over but he was able to make the turn even following birdies on the par-4 14th and 16th. Bell moved to 1-under par for the first time during the day with a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole. However, bogeys on Nos. 5 and 7 returned him to 1-over where he stayed until ending the day with a birdie on the par-5 ninth.

Freshmen Zach Mate and Coleman Dupre each shot 78 to tie for second on the team during the round. Mate had two birdies, seven bogeys and a double bogey.His is now tied for 87th heading into the final round. Dupre is tied for 69th after a round which was comprised of three birdies, six bogeys and two double bogeys.

Sacramento State also counted a round of 82 from Jeffrey Perry on Tuesday. Peery had a birdie, seven bogeys and a triple bogey.

San Diego has opened a 10-stroke lead in the team standings. The Torerros are 6-under par through two rounds and are trailed by Colorado State and Santa Clara are each tied for third at 6-over.
