SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's track and field team announced the addition of transfers George Harris and Blaize Holland, it was announced today.
Both will enroll at the University in the fall and be immediately eligible. The pair join a large class which features nine commits from the early signing period and 19 more in the spring.
George Harris
Throws, San Diego, Calif./San Diego HS/UC Santa Barbara
- Will come to the Hornets from UC Santa Barbara.
- Placed sixth at the Big West Outdoor Championships in the discus and was 13th in the shot put.
- Set PRs in 2021 with a shot put of 54-01.00 at the Fullerton Spring Invite and a discus throw of 176-06 at the Big West meet.
- Best hammer throw was 186-00 at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge in 2020.
- Was fifth in the discus at the Big West Championships in 2019.
- Was eighth in the shot put at the Big West Championships as a freshman in 2018.
- Graduated from San Diego HS in 2017.
- Finished 11th at the California State meet in the shot put with a best of 55-03.00.
Blaize Holland
Sprints, Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail HS/Metropolitan State Denver
- Earned NCAA Div. II All-America honors after placing sixth in the 200 and 10th in the 100 in 2021.
- Was the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champion in both events and also was part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams which finished second.
- Ran a career best 10.50 in the 100 at the NCAA Div. II Championships for his career high.
- Was the 2021 RMAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
- Best 200 time was 20.85 at the Mines Pre-Conference Invite.
- Placed fifth in the 60 at the 2021 RMAC Indoor Championships.
- Set his PR in the 60 with a time of 6.85 at the Adams State Grizzlies Open.
- Best 200 time was 21.81 at the same meet.
- Finished seventh in the 200 and eighth in the 60 at the 2020 RMAC Indoor Championships.
- Had the fastest times in the RMAC by a freshman in the 200 and 400 during the 2019 outdoor season.
- A 2018 graduate of Cherokee Trail HS in Aurora, Colo.
- Placed seventh in the 400 at the State 5A Championship as a junior with a time of 49.57.
- Also qualified in the 200 and 400 as a sophomore.
