STORK QUALIFIES FOR NCAA WEST PRELIMINARY, WILL COMPETE ON MAY 26

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State junior Evan Stork was announced today as a participant in the NCAA West Preliminary in  College Station, Texas. Stork will compete in the men's hammer which will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 11:30 a.m. PT.

Stork is seeded 22nd among the 48 competitors in the event. The top 12 finishers at the NCAA West Preliminary will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12.

The San Luis Obispo, Calif., native has been dominant in the hammer all season. He has finished first in seven of his nine competitions, including winning the Big Sky Championship with a school-record throw of 212-10 on May 15. Stork has surpassed 200 feet in five meets this season, including the last four.

This will mark Stork's first appearance at the NCAA West Preliminary. He is the first Hornet to qualify in the men's hammer since Zach Coniglio in 2015.
