SACRAMENTO -- Despite winning the double points and getting a singles victory from freshman Mark Keki, Sacramento State lost to Fresno State, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon on campus.

The match concluded the three-day Golden State Invitational as the Hornets were 0-2 at the tournament, including a 4-1 loss to Saint Mary's on Friday. Sacramento State, which competes with four freshmen in its singles lineup, dropped to 2-7 overall this season. All nine matches have been played at home.

Fresno State improved to 10-2 with the victory.

Keki's win at No. 2 came in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, against a Fresno State player (Angus Bradshaw) that had won his first nine singles matches of the season. Keki, a true freshman from Hungary, is now a team-best 5-3 in singles play (all at the No. 2 spot in the lineup), and ran his winning streak to four straight matches.

Keki also factored into Sacramento State winning the doubles point as the combination of Keki/Liam Liles won at No. 1 (6-2) and Rudolfs Aksenoks/Jan Silva were victories at No. 3 by a 6-3 score.

However, Fresno State got four straight-set singles wins from the Nos. 3-6 spots in the lineup. Sacramento State's Michael Vizcarra lost at No. 3, Liles at No. 4, Aksenoks at No. 5, and Jan Silva fell at No. 6. Senior Hermont Legaspi had his match stopped at No. 1 in the second set because the Bulldogs already had the necessary four points for victory.

Sacramento State will now play its first Big Sky Conference match of the season on Thursday when it hosts Northern Arizona at 11 a.m. The Hornets will play their first 12 matches of the season at home.
