MEN’S TENNIS FALLS ON THE ROAD AT MONTANA STATE

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Sacramento State won the doubles point, and earned a singles win from Nick Bowles, but it was not enough in a 5-2 loss at Montana State on Friday afternoon at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

The match was played indoors, an atmosphere the Hornets are not accustomed. Sacramento State saw its record fall to 10-10 overall and 1-4 in the Big Sky Conference. Only two matches remain in the regular season as the Hornets attempt to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament in Phoenix (April 23-25). The top six teams play in the postseason event.

Montana State improved to 7-11 overall, 3-3 in league, and 4-1 at home. The Hornets will remain in The Treasure State, and take on Montana on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. PT.

Sacramento State got off to a nice start this afternoon, as the duos of Adryan Ballestero/Sebastian Vlahos (6-3 at No. 1), and Doni Gashi/Miles Whitehead (7-6 at No. 3) were both victorious to earn the Hornets the doubles point.

However, the Hornets would get just one singles victory, and that came from Bowles at No. 3 (6-4, 6-4). Bowles continued his hot stretch, winning his fifth straight singles match while improving to a team-best 13-4 this spring.

Of the six singles matches, only one went three sets, as Ballestero lost at No. 5 in a third set super tiebreaker (10-3). Sacramento State played today's match without the services of No. 1 Martin Duris.
