Box Score 2 FRESNO, Calif. -- Sacramento State combined for two hits over two games as Fresno State swept a doubleheader from the Hornets on Saturday afternoon at Margie Wright Diamond. The Bulldogs won the first game, 11-0, in five innings, before taking the nightcap by a 5-0 score.
Sacramento State and Fresno State were playing the first two of a three-game series that will see the teams play again tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. Originally, this weekend was supposed to be a three-team tournament, but Long Beach State dropped out on Thursday.
The Hornets fell to 3-7 with the losses, while Fresno State improved to 5-5.
Sacramento State did not have a hit in the first game which was shortened to five innings because of the eight-run mercy rule. Lewa Day and Amber Rodriguez collected the team's lone hits in the second game.
The Hornets' best chance to score during the day was the fifth inning of the second game in which they loaded the bases with one out. However, the next two batters were retired on ground balls to end the threat.
Marissa Bertuccio (3-3) picked up the loss in the first game while Carley Morfey (0-3) got the loss in Game 2. Freshman Kelsey Alcantara made her first career collegiate appearance in the circle, pitching a scoreless inning of relief in the second game.
For Fresno State, Miranda Rohleder went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs. Hailey Dolcini threw a five-inning perfect game in the opener, striking out eight batters.
