Biography

2024 Season
A third team all-West Region, and first team all-Big Sky Conference selection…became just the second Hornet in the Div. I era (1990-pres.) to be named all-region on three occasions…an all-West Region selection and first team all-league choice each of her final three seasons…a team captain…finished season 14-9 with a 2.36 ERA, .229 opponent batting average and 3.7-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio (123 strikeouts, 33 walks)…allowed just 1.6 walks per seven innings…appeared in 30 of the Hornets’ 48 games with 20 starts, 16 complete games, three shutouts and two saves…the 2.36 ERA led the Big Sky…in conference play, Bertuccio was nearly unhittable, going 4-1 with a 1.27 ERA and .127 opponent batting average…that led the Big Sky in ERA by nearly a full run (0.75), and opponent batting average by nearly 100 percentage points (.097)…struck out a career-high 11 batters while tossing a two-hit shutout at Northern Colorado…threw six no-hit innings with no walks and five strikeouts in a win over Montana…allowed two earned runs or less in 23 of her 30 appearances…named Big Sky Pitcher of the Week twice during the season, and conference-record 19 times during her career…one of the greatest pitchers in Sacramento State history, Bertuccio ranks among the Hornets’ leaders in numerous career categories…that includes second in wins (64), appearances (138) and starts (106), tied for second in saves (6), third in shutouts (20) and strikeouts (527), tied for third in innings (681.1), fourth in complete games (71) and fewest walks per seven innings (1.38), and sixth in strikeouts per seven innings (5.41)…Big Sky all-academic selection for the fifth straight season…one of two Sacramento State student-athletes to be honored as a Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athlete.

2023 Season
A third team all-West Region selection, unanimous Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Year, and unanimous first team all-league choice…named all-region and Big Sky Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season…became just the third Hornet to receive Big Sky Pitcher of the Year accolades multiple times, joining Celina Matthias (2018, 2016), and Caitlin Brooks (2015, 2014)…a team captain…finished 14-9 with a 1.84 ERA, 29 appearances, 22 starts, 14 complete games, four shutouts, two saves and a .250 opponent batting average…in 148.2 innings, she had 112 strikeouts and just 19 walks…that 5.9-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio ranked 18th in the nation…her 0.9 walks per seven innings ranked 11th in the country…led the Big Sky in ERA, shutouts, saves, and opponent batting average…went 6-2 in conference play with a 0.92 ERA, and 12-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio (48 strikeouts, 4 walks)…threw a no-hitter on April 21 at Portland State…named Big Sky Pitcher of the Week a conference-record seven times…Big Sky all-academic selection for the fourth straight year.

2022 Season
A third team all-Pacific Region selection and Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Year…also a first team all-Big Sky choice…concluded a brilliant season with a 21-10 record and 2.38 ERA while limiting the opposition to a .236 batting average…in 37 appearances, she started 30 games with 21 complete games, eight shutouts, two saves and 168 strikeouts in 194.1 innings…led the Big Sky in wins, shutouts, complete games and innings…a five-time Big Sky Pitcher of the Week selection…ranked 19th in the nation in shutouts, 24th in innings, and 26th in wins…her 21 victories are tied for the second best single-season mark in Sacramento State’s Div. I era (1990-pres.)…had a 3.4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (168 strikeouts, 49 walks)…threw her first career no-hitter  vs. Southern Utah and was named the NFCA National Pitcher of the Week on May 10… went 8-4 with a 1.68 ERA and .197 opponent batting average in Big Sky play…threw shutouts vs. Santa Clara (twice), Marist, Idaho State, Portland State (twice), Montana and Southern Utah…between her 21 wins and two saves, she had a big hand in 23 of Sacramento State’s 30 wins…a Big Sky all-academic selection for the third straight season, and NFCA Scholar-Athlete choice for the second straight year.

2021 Season

A second team all-Big Sky Conference selection…appeared in 29 of the Hornets’ 42 games, including 25 starts, 14 complete games and four shutouts…won 10 games and posted a 4.01 ERA…in 132.2 innings, she had 77 strikeouts with just 24 walks, good for a 3.2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio…opponents hit just .269 when Bertuccio was in the circle…ranked among the Big Sky’s top four pitchers in ERA, wins, opponent batting average, innings pitched and strikeouts…owned 10 of Sacramento State’s 15 victories…a three-time Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Week selection, including three of the first four weeks of the season…issued 10 walks over her last 94 innings pitched…threw shutouts against Cal, Pacific, Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s…finished the season issuing just 1.27 walks per seven innings, ranking among the top 50 pitchers in the nation (43rd)…pitched in all three games of the Hornets’ Big Sky Tournament run…a Big Sky all-academic selection, and NFCA Scholar-Athlete.

2020 Season

Became the team’s pitching ace as a true freshman…appeared in 13 games during a shortened 26-game schedule…had one of the better freshman seasons in program history, finishing 5-2 with a 1.88 ERA…in 63.1 innings of work, she struck out 47 batters with just nine walks, good for a massive 5.2-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio…started her career by winning each of her first five decisions…named Big Sky Pitcher of the Week on March 2…Bertuccio led or tied for the team lead in ERA, wins, appearances (13), starts (9), complete games (6), innings, strikeouts and opponents batting average (.246)…her average of less than one walk per seven innings (0.99) was the 26th best mark in the nation, and the strikeout to walk ratio the 42nd best…the 1.88 ERA was also the top mark in the Big Sky Conference…ranked among the Big Sky’s top five pitchers in seven different categories, including second in wins, third in opponents batting average and fourth in strikeouts…in six innings of a mercy rule shortened win over Utah State, Bertuccio tossed a three-hit shutout while walking none and striking out 12 batters…allowed more than one walk in just one of her 13 appearances, and that was two walks in a win at UC Davis…a Big Sky all-academic selection.

High School

A 2019 graduate of Golden Valley High School in Merced, Calif…played four years of varsity softball, and two seasons of volleyball for the Cougars…during her four seasons with the softball team, the right-hander went 58-15 with a 0.74 ERA and 912 strikeouts in 636 innings pitched…also had a career batting average of .475 with 122 runs scored, 27 doubles, nine triples, 14 home runs, 38 stolen bases and 86 RBIs in 112 games…a two-time Central California Conference Pitcher of the Year, four-time all-conference, four-time-time all-area and four-time team MVP selection…as a senior, she was first team all-state after finishing 28-5 with a 0.62 ERA and batting .548 with 44 runs, seven homers and 36 RBIs in 33 games…also as a senior, she helped the Cougars advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. III championship game (furthest the school had ever advanced in sections) and the program’s first conference title since 2005…as a junior, she was the Merced Sun-Star Softball Player of the Year, second team all-section and conference pitcher of the year after going 21-6 with a 0.64 ERA…that year, she threw five no-hitters and two perfect games.

Personal
Parents are Michael and Jennifer Bertuccio…a mathematics major who graduated in the spring of 2024 with a 3.96 GPA…played three years of travel ball for the Batbusters organization.
