SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Throughout the summer, the Sacramento State Athletics department will take a look back and honor the student-athletes who have made the biggest impact on their sport over the last 10 years.
The announcements will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week, and the sports will be announced in alphabetical order. Timeline is below.
To be eligible for an all-decade team, a student-athlete must have played at least one year in their sport between the 2010-11 and 2019-20 academic years.
Today, the department is announcing the men's cross country all-decade team.
Chloe Berlioux (2011-15)
Ran in 24 meets and led the team 13 times…after redshirting in 2012, she paced the team in two meets in was second on the squad in two others in her five races…narrowly missed earning all-Big Sky honors as a sophomore where she was 12th at the conference meet…the next year, she had three top three finishes after placing second at the Aggie Open and third at the Mustang Challenge and Big Sky Championships…her third-place finish at the conference meet is tied for the best all-time by a Hornet and her time of 17:18.8 ranks second…returned for her senior season to win the Aggie Open, Capital Cross Challenge and Santa Clara Bronco Invitational…also ranks fourth in school history with a time of 17:26.5 from the 2013 conference meet…owns three of the top 10 best finishes by a Sacramento State woman at the NCAA West Regional after finishing 40th in 2015, 49th in 2013 and 51st in 2014…her time if 20:44.4 from 2013 is the second fastest in school history at an NCAA West Regional.
Has raced in 14 races during her three seasons…led team in all six events in 2019…placed fourth at the Nevada Twilight Classic and the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational during the season…was 12th at the Big Sky Championships as she just missed being named all-conference…her time of 21:21.7 from the NCAA West Regional is the eighth fastest by a Hornet woman in school history at the meet.
Amanda Garcia (2011-15)
Ran in 19 meets during her career…after redshirted during the 2011, she made competed in six meets during the 2012 season…that year was highlighted at the Big Sky Championships where she ranked second on the team…she did not run in any races in 2013 but returned in 2013 to lead the team at the NCAA West Regional…that year, she ran 21:12.4 which remains the fifth fastest time by a Hornet woman at the meet and she also finished in 35th place which is the fourth-best finish in school history…ranked among the top two runners on the team in each of her six meets as a senior…led the Hornets at the Big Sky Championships.
Rachel Mitchell (2009-13)
Was in the lineup for 25 meets during her career…made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2009 as she led the team in two races and placed sixth at the WAC Preview and seventh at the Hornet Jamboree…competed in five meets as a sophomore and then established herself as one of the top runners in the Big Sky as a junior…that season, she led the team in all six of her races and finished 14th at the Big Sky Championships…she was also third at the Aggie Open and fifth at the Hornet Jamboree during the year…led the team in all seven races as a senior and earned all-Big Sky honors after placing third at the conference meet…finished first at the Hornet Jamboree and was third at the Aggie Open to highlighter her five top five finishes…owns the school record at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 20:18.4 from 2013…finished 28th that season which places her third all-time in school history…she is also seventh after placing 47th in 2011…holds the school record with a Big Sky Championship time of 17:06.5 from 2013.
Competed in 25 races during her career and led Sacramento State in her final 18 events…broke out as a sophomore where she placed among the top 13 in five of her six meets…just missed earning all-conference honors after placing 11th at the Big Sky Championships that season…the following year, she was 11th at the Capital Cross Challenge and 12th at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational…finished first at the Fresno Cross Country Invitational to start her senior season, was second at the Capital Cross Challenge and fourth at the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational…ranks fifth in school history with a time of 17:32.0 at the 2018 Big Sky Championships…also accounts for three of the top six best times by a Sacramento State woman at the NCAA West Regional…is third after running 21:08.4 in 2016; fourth at 21:10.3 in 2017 and sixth at 21:14.8 from 2018…was a four-time Big Sky all-academic selection.
The only woman in school history to earn all-Big Sky Conference accolades three times…Robinson capped her career at the start of the decade, finishing 10th at the 2010 Big Sky Championships…that performance followed seventh-place showing in 2008 and an eighth-place finish in 2009…ran 16:14.87 as a senior for the fastest time ever by a Hornet at the conference meet…also led the team at the NCAA West Regional that same season with a time of 21:52.7 which was the third fastest in school history at the time and currently ranks 19th.
