AUSTIN, Texas — The Sacramento State track & field teams completed competition at the NCAA West Preliminary on Saturday at Texas.
Three Hornets competed in the men's triple jump where Darius Armstead led the group with a jump of 50-10.25 to place 22nd. Armstead, who was the Big Sky indoor and outdoor champion, improved his distance in each of his three attempts. He missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships by just under a foot as the last mark to advance was 51-10.00.
Jah Strange finished in 29th place with a leap of 50-00.75 which came in his first attempt. Mohamed Abdullah finished 43rd with a best of 48-03.25.
Andre Lindsey advanced to the second round of the men's 110-hurdles with his performance on Friday. The junior headed into Saturday with the 22nd fastest time in the opening round. He ran 14.08 on Saturday and finished 17th.
The season will continue for Cory Barger who advanced to NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the long jump. The meet will take place June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
