WALNUT and AZUSA, Calif. — Sacramento State athletics took part in the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday in Southern California.

The Hornet men set two school top 10 marks during the day in field events. Kyle Peterson improved his own mark which ranked sixth in school history. Peterson threw the discus 170-03 and was fourth overall at the Mt. SAC Relays. Cory Barger had a significant PR in the long jump to place third at Mt. SAC with a best of 24-00.25. Barger moved from outside the top 10 into ninth place in the Hornet record book.

Steven Pust added the only other top 10 finish for the men at Mt. SAC. Pust placed sixth in the A section of the pole vault after clearing 15-07.00.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific, Darius Armstead tied for seventh place in the high jump after clearing 6-06.75.

The women had three top 10 finishes at the Mt. SAC Relays. Kathleen Durand placed seventh in the discus after a throw of 149-03. Elizabeth Venzon was eighth in the high jump after clearing 5-04.25. Cassidy Zurn completed the trio after running 1:01.38 to place 10th in the 400-hurdles.

The team's weekend continues on Saturday with the majority of the athletes competing at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State.
