POCATELLO, Idaho — The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams are both in fourth place after the first full day of competition at the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships. The meet concludes on Saturday with 11 event finals for both genders.

The Hornet women scored 23.5 points but have significant work to do to catch Montana and Northern Arizona which lead with field 47 and 39 points, respectively. From there, Weber State (24), Sacramento State and Eastern Washington (23) are closely bunched for third through fifth place.

Montana State scored 43 points to lead the men's competition. Northern Arizona (32.5), Southern Utah (28), Sacramento State (25.5) and Eastern Washington (21) complete the top five.

Friday's action started with the second day of the heptathlon were Max Jette finished third and Alec Acevedo was sixth to lead the Hornets. He then tied for the best mark in the competition with a pole vault of 14-04.00 before running 2:47.31 in the 800.
