LAWRENCE, Kan. — The 2016 Sacramento State track & field season came to a close but not before James Kinloch set a personal best and the second best throw in the discus in school history. Kinloch had a toss of 179-10 which bettered his previous long by 4-feet, 6-inches. That mark is longest by a Sacramento State athlete since Dave McKenzie threw 181-01 in 1971.
After rain and wind affected the first two days of the competition, Kinloch was limited to just three throws in the shortened event. He threw 173-09 on his first attempt before hitting his long on his second try. The senior fouled on his final attempt. His throw placed him 19th in the meet and left him just 40 inches away from a berth in the NCAA Championships.
Senior Chloe Berlioux also wrapped up her collegiate career by placing 23rd in the 1500 with a time of 4:25.68. Berlioux finished sixth in her heat behind a late charge. She was eighth at the midway point but closed with a final 400 of 1:05.68.
Fellow senior Paul Lyons was entered in the men's 110-hurdles but was unable to finish due to a lingering hamstring strain.
