TRACK & FIELD BEGINS BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH MULTIS

GREELEY, Colo. — Sacramento State's Max Jette is in fourth place in the decathlon and Emilia Del Hoyo is fifth in the heptathlon following the opening day of the Big Sky Track & Field Championships on Wednesday at Northern Colorado.

Jette opened with a time of 11.74 in the 100-meter dash. He moved up the standings with a long jump of 21-03.50 which was the fourth-longest in the field. Jette then had a shot put of 36-09.75 before clearing 6-04.00 in the high jump which was tied for the third best. The sophomore hit the midway point of the decathlon after running 52.51 in the 400.

His total of 3,400 points places him 153 points behind Idaho's Drew Thompson for the overall lead. Kevin Robinson of Portland State sits it second place with 3,514 points and Montana State's Mason Storm is third with 3,479.

Del Hoyo started the heptathlon by running 14.41 in 100-hurdles which was the second fastest time among the 16 athletes. She then cleared 5-03.25 in the high jump before a shot put of 33-09.25. The freshman finished with a time of 26.22 in the 200.

The Manresa, Spain native totaled 2,994 points but is less than 100 points out of third place. Montana State's Danielle Rider and Montana's Erika McLeod have pulled away from the field with 3,244 points and 3,190 points, respectively. Bailey Woodbury of Idaho State is third with 3,076 and Jessica Chrisp of Montana State is fourth (3,019).

Combs, who was competing in her first collegiate heptathlon, ran 16.72 in the 100-hurdles and high jumped 4-11.75. She also had a shot put of 31-07.50 and ran the 200 in 27.43. Her total of 2,454 points places her in 14th place heading into the final three events.
