SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's and women's track & field teams competed at three meets over Thursday and Friday where Hornet athletes posted four school top 10 marks.
On Thursday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., Haley Heinemann and Adrianna Royal each improved their top 10 marks in the women's steeplechase. Heinemann ran 11:07.44 and now ranks sixth in school history. Here time was nearly five seconds faster than her previous best. Royal posted a time of 11:12.12 to move from eighth to seventh in school history. Her previous best was 11:17.74 set last season.
Chloe Berlioux, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., finished fourth in the 1500 at the Mt. SAC Relays after running 4:22.39. Her time placed her less than a second off the winning mark of 4:21.53 by Wake Forest's Kathryn Lazarchick. Berlioux entered the meet as the Big Sky leader in the event and is now six seconds faster than the closest athlete. Berlioux is now third in the Sacramento State record book trailing only former All-Americans Lea Wallace (4:11.31) and Renisha Robinson (4:20.66).
Freshman Kyle Peterson shattered his PR and is now sixth all-time at Sacramento State with a discus throw of 170-01. Peterson's previous high was 165-09.
The Hornets will continue to compete on Saturday at both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational.
