SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's and women's track & field teams will host the annual Mondo Team Challenge on Saturday, April 2, at Hornet Stadium. Along with the Hornets, the scored meet will feature Portland State, UC Davis and UNLV.
The meet will begin with the women's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. The men's long jump will get under way at 10 a.m. and the first running event will be the women's 4x100 relay at 11:45 a.m. The final schedule event will be the men's 4x400 relay at 3:20 p.m.
Several athletes from all four teams enter the meet as the conference leader in their respective events.
• Portland State's Genna Settle is the Big Sky leader in the 100 with a time of 11.87 at the Aztec Invitational last weekend. Settle also ranks second in the Big SKy in the 200 after running 24.45 at the L&C Spring Break Open.
• Ben Richardson of PSU has run 1:52.29 at the L&C Spring Break Open for the fastest time in the Big Sky in the 800 this year.
• UNLV's Laura Anuakpado has posted the fastest time in the Mountain West Conference this season in the 400. Anuakpado ran 54.41 at the UNLV Invitational and leads the league by .44 seconds.
• Sacramento State's Hannah Edwards is the Big Sky leader in the women's 800 following a time of 2:12.25 at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational on March 24. The Hornets own four of the top eight times in the Big Sky in the event with Ashley Kittle third, Lizette Gonzalez sixth and Joy Weems eighth.
• The Hornets' Chloe Berlioux and Amanda Garcia rank first and third in the 1500 in the conference. However, the pair will each run at the Stanford Invitational on Friday night and will not compete at the Mondo. Spencer Moore of UNLV is scheduled to compete at the Mondo. Moore is the MWC leader with a tome of 4:33.02 set last weekend at UC Riverside. The sophomore is also the conference's best in the 5K.
• The trio of Kristen Robinson, Stephanie Blumm and Olivia Leavitt of Sacramento State have posted the three fastest times in the Big Sky in the 100-hurdles this year. Robinson leads the league with a time of 14.13. Portland State's Akayla Anderson is fifth in the Big Sky.
• Senior Paul Lyons leads the Big Sky in the 110-hurdles after running 14.05 at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational. Teammates Austin Tinsley and Casey Wheeler also rank among the top five in the league in the event.
• UC Davis junior Emma Reddick owns the fastest time in the Big West in the 400-hurdles after running 59.48 at the Sacramento State Hornet Invitational on March 18.
• UNLV ran 3:41.91 in the 4x400 relay at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational for the fastest time in the Mountain West this season.
• Daniel Onuoha and Billy Eng are 1-2 in the conference in the high jump. Onuoha has cleared 6-09.75 while Eng's best is an inch below.
• The women's high jump should be highly contested. UNLV's Kaysee Pilgrim ranks seventh nationally and is the MWC leader with a best of 5-09.75. Candice Dominguez of Sacramento State is the Big Sky leader after clearing 5-07.00.
• Danielle Brandon is one of three Hornets ranked among the top four in the women's pole vault. Brandon has been successful at 13-04.50 and leads the league by over 10 inches.
• Portland State's Ta'Mara Richey is the conference leader in the women's long jump after going 19-02.50 at the L&C Spring Break Open. Freshman Abby Taylor of Sacramento State is third in the Big Sky with a best of 18-10.75.
• The Big Sky leader in the men's triple jump is Kodzo Toku of PSU. He has jumped 47-07.25 and is followed in the standings by the Hornets' Adrienne Jackson at 46-07.25.
• Cortney Miller of UNLV ranks 15th nationally and second in the Mountain West with a best of 199-04 in the hammer thrown.
