Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. – Sophomore Anna-Maria Nau improved to 4-0 in singles play this season but No. 71 Arizona won the rest of the singles and doubles matches in a 6-1 win on Saturday in Tucson.
In their final non-conference match of the season the Hornets saw their season record drop to 7-8. No. 71 Arizona, the fourth ranked team Sacramento State has faced this season, improved to 10-8.
Nau won for the second time in as many days, beating Arizona's Sophia Thomas 6-3, 7-6 at the No. 6 singles position. All four of Nau's singles wins this year have come on the road, winning the first set in each victory.
Arizona opened the match with a quick 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles by the No. 53 doubles paring in the nation in Shayne Austin and Lauren Marker. Arizona's Devin Chypyha and Camila Wesbrooks outlasted Nau and Hornet sophomore Emily McColl, 6-2, at No. 3 to claim the doubles point.
Marker, ranked No. 39 nationally in singles play, led 4-0 at No. 1 before Hornet junior Alina Soltanici had to retire. Arizona earned straight set wins at No. 2 and 3 to clinch the win and had a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. At No. 4, Hornet sophomore Ana Loaiza Esquivias swept the first set before Wesbrooks battled back for a 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) victory.
The Hornets resume Big Sky Conference play with two league matches next week, playing at Northern Colorado next Saturday and North Dakota next Sunday.
