SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The No. 72 Sacramento State women's tennis team won its third-straight dual and improved to 8-0 at home this season thanks to a 5-2 victory over visiting Santa Clara on Tuesday afternoon at the Sacramento State Tennis Complex on campus.

With the win, the Hornets improved to 15-5 overall with their third-straight triumph in the series with the Broncos while extending its home winning streak to 17 straight dating back to last year. Santa Clara fell to 5-13 overall with the loss.

Sacramento State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the match by taking two of the three doubles contests on the day, winning the doubles point for the seventh consecutive match. The Hornets had to rally after the Broncos posted a win at No. 2, with the tandem of Cami Maldonado Gutierrez and Reese Walker drawing them even with a 6-3 win at No. 3 and the duo of Irene Riva and Palina Saulevich clinching the point with a 6-4 win at No. 1.

Shifting the scene to singles, Sacramento State was the first off the courts in the first three matches of the day to nail down the win. Riva won the first set against Anna Rahman, 6-1, at No. 3 before the Broncos' player was forced to retire down 2-0 in the second, while Lou Baudouin made quick work of Lizanne Boyer at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-0, extending her personal winning streak to nine straight matches and improving to 15-2 overall on the year.

Saulevich then provided the clinching point at the No. 6 spot, defeating Madhu Satishbabu, 6-2, 6-4. Maldonado Gutierrez also posted a singles victory, defeating Ashley Katz at the No. 4 position in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.

Having already clinched at least a share of the Big Sky Conference regular season title, the Hornets have only two matches remaining in the regular season, traveling to Causeway rival UC Davis on April 16 before closing out league play with a "Senior Day" home match against Portland State on April 18.

Sacramento State is then the designated host school for the 2026 Big Sky Championships at the Phoenix Tennis Center in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 23-25.
