SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Chloe Berlioux finished first in the 1500 and the Hornet men had the best time in the 4x100 relay to lead Sacramento State at the Hornet Invitational on Saturday.
Sacramento State had 13 top five finishes at the meet and set five school top 10 marks during the day.
Berlioux ran 4:24.36 to win the 1500 in her first outdoor race of the year. The senior's time placed her .56 seconds ahead of San Francisco's Elena Burkhard. The men's relay team ran 41.91 and was one of two schools to post a time under 42 seconds during the meet.
Senior Amanda Garcia finished sixth in the women's 1500 and also ran the seventh fastest time in the event in program history at 4:29.66.
Candice Dominguez was third in the high jump with a successful attempt at 5-07.00 which moved her into a tie for fifth at Sacramento State.
Danielle Brandon is now fourth in the pole vault after clearing 12-07.50. She finished second in the meet behind Stanford's Kaitlyn Merritt (13-05.25).
Nikki Pappelis claimed the 10th longest javelin throw all-time by a Hornet with a toss of 130-06.
Max Jette and Emilia Del Hoyo each completed multi events on Saturday. Jette totaled 6,589 points to place second. His total was also the sixth best in school history. Del Hoyo was second in the pentathlon with 4,594 points.
Paul Lyons finished third in the meet and had the second fastest time by a collegiate athlete after running 14.08 in the 110-hurdles.
A day after placing fourth in the hammer, James Kinloch was second in the discus with a throw of 168-04.
Sacramento State will next compete at the UC Riverside Spring Classic on March 26.
