SEATTLE, Wash. — Freshman Emilia Del Hoyo led the Sacramento State athletes in the pentathlon during the first day of the UW Invitational on Friday. Del Hoyo scored 3,574 points to record the sixth highest total in school history.
Del Hoyo started the day by running the 60-hurdles in 8.94 seconds. She then cleared 5-03.25 in the high jump before a shot put of 30-06.25. The freshman made a big surge in the standing after a long jump of 18-01.75. She ended the day by running the 800 in 2:28.45.
Returners Kassandra Corrigan and Elizabeth Venzon placed 12th and 15th, respectively. Corrigan totaled 3,559 points while Venzon accumulated 3,469. Corrigan's day consisted of a 60-hurdles time of 9.15, a high jump of 5-04.50, a shot put of 30-07.65, a long jump of 17-06.75 and an 800 in 2:25.23.
Venzon ran 9.27 in the 60-hurdles before clearing 5-05.75 in the high jump to lead the trio. She also had a team best 32-05.50 in the shot put before closing with a long jump of 17-06.75 and an 800 in 2:30.51.
Alec Acevedo and Max Jette each took part in the first four events of the heptathlon. Acevedo ran 7.18 in the 60 while Jette had a time of 7.42. Acevedo added a long jump of 22-05.25, a shot put of 38-07.50 and a high jump of 6-02.00. Jette finished with a long jump of 20-06.50, a shot put of 37-04.50 and a high jump of 5-10.50.
The pair will compete in the final three events on Saturday.
