DAVIS, Calif. — A small number of Sacramento State track & field student-athletes opened their outdoor seasons at the Aggie Opener on Friday night. The first day of the meet consisted of the men's and women's javelin and hammer with the rest of the competition set to take place on Saturday.
In the women's competition, the Hornets had three finishers among the top five in the hammer. Lila Yoldi threw 176-06 to place second behind Ashley Harbin (222-08) who was competing unattached. Yoldi's mark was the best by a collegiate athlete and she was followed by Erinn Jones who placed third at 171-02. Jones, who was the Big Sky champion in the weight throw, set a PR with her effort and now ranks eighth in school history. Sarah Yoldi finished fifth with a distance of 162-09.
