WOMEN’S TENNIS FINISHES AMONG REGION’S BEST IN FINAL ITA RANKINGS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's tennis team finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 6 as a team, while four Hornets were recognized as some of the best in the Northwest Region as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its final rankings of the year on June 3.

In wrapping up a season that saw Sacramento State win its second Big Sky Conference regular season title in three years and its third consecutive league tournament crown, the Hornets made their 16th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance at No. 13 national seed USC en route to a final 19-6 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Big Sky.

Sacramento State will make the transition and compete as a full-fledged member of the Big West Conference beginning with the 2026-27 school year.

The Hornets ranked behind only California, Washington, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington State in the finale regional team rankings, placing ahead of Portland, UC Davis, Santa Clara, and Eastern Washington. It marks the third straight year that Sacramento State has finished among the region's top 10, ending the 2024 campaign ranked No. 10 and finishing the 2025 campaign ranked No. 5 in the region.

Among the top 10, the Hornets posted wins over Washington State (4-3 on Feb. 6), Eastern Washington (5-2 on March 20), Santa Clara (5-2 on April 7), and UC Davis (4-1 on April 16) while falling to then No. 11-ranked Stanford (4-3 on Feb. 9).

Individually, redshirt junior Lou Baudouin was ranked No. 20 in the region in singles, finishing the season with a 17-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark against conference opponents. She spent most of the season at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, posting an 11-3 record, and finished 4-0 at No. 3 and 1-0 at both No. 1 and No. 4.

Freshman Cami Maldonado Gutierrez, the Big Sky Freshman of the Year, and teammate Reese Walker were ranked as the No. 6 doubles team in the region after posting a 14-1 record and a perfect 7-0 mark in Big Sky sky at the No. 3 spot in the Hornets' lineup.

The duo won their final nine matches of the year and became the highest-ranked Hornet doubles tandem in the final regional rankings since Tatsiana Kapshai and Rebecca Delgado were No. 6 in the final 2012 ITA rankings.

Baudouin and teammate Emilija Pranyte also finished ranked No. 10 in the region after posting a 12-4 record as a tandem, ending the year ranked 9-4 at No. 2 and 3-0 at the No. 3 position.

Together, they are the first Sacramento State doubles teams to be ranked among the region's best since Delgado and current Head Coach Sophie Breault finished the 2013 season ranked No. 8 in the region.
