O'NEAL DUNK CONTEST PHOTO GALLERY

INDIANAPOLIS -- Sacramento State senior forward Shaqir O'Neal won the 37th-annual State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday.

O'Neal beat six other competitors, and became the first Hornet in program history to win the event. He is also the first Sacramento State player to compete at the Championship since Jameel Pugh finished as the runner-up in 2005. One of the seven competitors at the dunk contest was also from the Big Sky Conference in Portland State's Jaylin Henderson.

O'Neal had a total of five dunks, and each were crown pleasers. Each dunk was graded by a panel of five celebrity judges for a 50 point max total.

O'Neal's dunks:

First Round - Top four dunkers advanced to semifinals
Windmill dunk while jumping over Florida State's 6-foot-10 forward Chauncey Wiggins
45 points

Semifinals - Top two dunkers advance to championship
Semifinal Dunk #1 - Baseline windmill dunk coming from under the basket
39 points

Semifinal Dunk #2 - Elbow in the rim dunk after jumping over Syracuse's 6-foot-9 forward William Kyle III
50 points (combined score of 89 points were the most among the four dunkers in the semifinals)

Championship Round - Competed against Central Connecticut's Nico Ashley
Windmill dunk with elbow in the rim while jumping over both Wiggins and Kyle III
50 points - both dunkers scored 50 to force a dunkoff

Championship Dunkoff - 180 degree double pump reverse dunk to win the title

This past season, in his first season at Sacramento State, O'Neal was the only Hornet to start all 31 games. He played double-figure minutes in every game, and finished with averages of 5.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 19.3 minutes.

O'Neal also won a dunk contest in October at Hornet Madness when he sealed the victory by jumping over 6-foot-11 Brad Miller for a flush.
