SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State head men's soccer coach Michael Linenberger announced Friday that standout high school defender Cameron Martino has committed to continue his academic and athletic career with the Hornets beginning with the 2026 season.
"Cameron is a versatile player that can play as a holding midfielder or as a center back," Linenberger said. "He is a good ball-winner and his range of passing is fantastic along with his soccer IQ. He will compete for playing time as a freshman."
Martino was a three-year letter winner on the back line at Clovis East HS in Clovis, Calif., who missed his senior season due to injury.
As a junior, Martino was a first-team All-Tri River Athletic Conference selection for the Timberwolves, while being named to the CIF Central Section all-star game. As a freshman and a sophomore, he helped lead Clovis East to a pair of section semifinal appearances and finished his prep career with four goals and nine assists
Outside of his high school career, Martino played eight years for the Cal Odyssey Soccer Club where he earned an ECNL all-conference award in 2022 in the club's first year at that level.
Martino is the fifth addition to the Sacramento State roster for 2026, joining previous commitments from defender Mateus Romualdo (Snow College), midfielder Henry Hedden (Monte Vista HS), goalkeeper AJ Bengds (UNC Asheville), and forward Jakub Kozlowski (Palomar College)
