JOHNSON NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-BIG SKY; ALSO NAMED TO THE ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM

SACRAMENTO -- Senior guard Prophet Johnson has been named second team all-Big Sky Conference after putting together a huge year in his first season with the Hornets. Johnson was also one of five players in the league to be named to the Big Sky's all-defensive team.

• Averaging 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.6 steals and 35.5 minutes per game
• Has played in 29 games, including 28 starts
• Shooting 48% (188-396) from the field, 40% (49-123) from the 3-point line and 74% (112-151) from the free throw line
• Among Big Sky leaders, he ranks first in steals and defensive rebounds (5.8 per game), second in rebounding and minutes, fourth in scoring, and eighth in assists
• Two-time Big Sky Conference Player of the Week (1/20 and 2/3), and named the College Insider National Player of the Week (2/2)
• Has scored 14+ points in 12 straight, and 14 of the last 15 games. 
• Has scored in double figures 24 times this year
• His 14 games with at least 20 points are tied for the most in the Big Sky
• Also has a pair of 30-point games, including a career-best 35 vs. Weber State - tied for the fifth best single-game mark in the Hornets' Div. I era (1991-pres.)
• Ranks fifth in the nation in steals per game, and his average of 2.59 ranks third in program single-season history
• Among players standing under 6-foot-5, he is the nation's second best rebounder
• Has eight double-doubles (points and rebounds) despite his 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame
• His eight games with 10+ rebounds are tied for second most in the Big Sky
• Eight double-doubles are just two shy of the Hornet Div. I era record
• If the season ended today, his 18.5 ppg average would rank as the third best mark in the program's Div. I era
• In conference play, he raised his scoring average to 19.8 ppg (third in the Big Sky)
• In his first year with the Hornets after transferring from Fairfield
• A communication studies major who is on pace to graduate this summer

Johnson and the Hornets (10-20, 6-12) will open the Big Sky Tournament on Saturday in the first round against Idaho at 7 p.m. PT. The entire tournament takes place at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, and all first round and quarterfinal matchups will stream on ESPN+. Should Sacramento State win on Saturday, it would play Montana State in the quarterfinal round on Sunday at 7 p.m. PT.
