LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Sacramento State dropped a pair of matches to nationally ranked opponents on the first day of the Big West Challenge at Rosie's Dog Beach.
The Hornets played twice this morning, falling to 13th-ranked Hawaii, 4-1, before losing to 11th-ranked Long Beach State, 5-0. Sacramento State (8-7) had its five-match winning streak snapped. That win streak had been the longest in program history (2013-pres.).
Of Sacramento State's seven losses this season, three have come against nationally ranked oppostion.
The Hornets will play four more matches as part of the three-day Big West Challenge, hosted by Long Beach State. That includes two contests on Saturday, and two more on Sunday.

Aurora Bibolotti went to three sets in both matches, beating their opponent from Hawaii by a 22-20, 14-21, 16-14 score. The Hornets' No. 5 team of

Keonahi'ilani Solaita had a three-set loss to Hawaii, and narrowly went three sets against Long Beach State (21-14, 22-20).
The Hornets will play twice tomorrow, comprised of matches with CSU Bakersfield (10:20 a.m.) and UC Davis (3 p.m.).
