SACRAMENTO -- Playing its first home matches of the season, Sacramento State had little trouble, defeating both San Francisco (4-1) and Portland (5-0) on the first day of the Beach Bash at Hornet Beach.

The Hornets have won four straight matches, and improved to 7-5 this season. After playing its first 10 matches of the season away from home, Sacramento State played its first matches on campus. The Hornets are hosting the two-day Beach Bash, which features three more matches tomorrow. Sacramento State will play Corban at noon. Two other matches sandwich the Hornets' matchup.

Four Sacramento State pairs went 2-0 today, including Reese Ampi/Ashlynn Archer, Kate Doorn/Mia Guevara, Greta Davis/Karlie Spohn, and Skyler Gartin/Keonahi'ilani Solaita. The tandem of Aurora Bibolotti/Victoria Marthaler went 1-1. After playing No. 2 vs. San Francisco, Archer/Ampi moved to the No. 1 spot against Portland.

Guevara/Doorn has now won four straight matches. The duo of Ampi/Archer improved to 9-3. Solaita has not lost a match since coming back from injury, and she and partner Skyler Gartin are 4-0.

The Hornets' four-match winning streak is the longest since the 2017 season. Should Sacramento State win tomorrow, the potential five-game streak would be the longest in program history (2013-pres.).
