SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Junior Reese Walker and sophomore Emilija Pranyte each posted singles wins on the day, but the two victories weren't enough to lift the No. 68-ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team past host San Diego State as the No. 22-ranked Aztecs finished-off a 5-2 win on Sunday in San Diego, Calif.

Facing their third nationally ranked team this season and fresh off a 4-3 win at No. 52 Long Beach State a day earlier, the Hornets had their three-match winning streak come to an end, falling to 6-4 overall on the year. SDSU improved to 6-1 overall with the win.

With three of the six singles contests going the distance, Walker won her second straight contest against a ranked rival team, needing three sets to push past Jo-Yee Chan, 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-2, at the top spot in the lineup. Pranyte did the same at No. 5 singles, outlasting Teja Tirunelveli for a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, victory. 

It was the second straight win for Walker, who improved to 3-2 in three-set matches this year, while Pranyte won her third straight overall and moved to 3-0 when going three. Redshirt junior Lou Baudouin also went to three sets at the No. 2 spot against Ninon Martinache, but fell, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, after winning the opening set.

Sacramento State's run of six straight matches on the road continues next week with the start of Big Sky Conference play as the Hornets travel to Montana on Friday (Feb. 27) and Montana State on Sunday (March 1). Both matches are scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
