SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's golf team will make its near annual trip to the East Coast to compete at the Evie Odom Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va. Due to expected rain on Sunday, the tournament will now consist of 36 holes on Friday and a single round on Saturday at Princess Anne CC.
Â
All seven members of the Hornet roster will compete in the tournament with
Jocelyn Tseng the latest to join the lineup.
Sophia Lee will play at No. 1 on the opening day and be joined by
Emilia Schneider, Tseng,
Tova Hatton and Darla Mar Dela Torre.
Florencia Dufey and
Ashley Koga will play as individuals.
Â
The course is a par-70 with six par-3s scattered throughout. The 5,800 yards is one of the shortest — if not the shortest — the team will see all season and is over 1,500 yards shy of what the Hornets seen this year.
Â
Sacramento State returns to the tournament after appearing in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The Hornets' top finish came in 2024 where the team place third behind
Sneha Sharan who tied for fifth.
Â
This will be the third tournament of the fall for Sacramento State following a sixth-place finish at the Branch Law/Dick McGuire Invitational in New Mexico and placing fourth at the Kalispel Invitational in Spokane, Wash. Lee and Schneider are averaging a team-best 73.50 strokes per round through the first six rounds of the season. Lee has finished in the top 20 in both tournaments while Schneider was aided by rounds of 69-73-72 to finish second at the Kalispel Invitational.
