GOLF’S SNEHA SHARAN AND TRACK & FIELD’S MILES GRANT NAMED BIG SKY SCHOLAR-ATHLETES

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State women's golfer Sneha Sharan and men's track and field's Miles Grant were named Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2024-25 academic year.

Sharan and Grant were two of just 22 honorees across the Big Sky's 10 full-time members and football affiliates. Each of the Big Sky's 10 full-time members had one male, and one female, selected.

To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have exhausted his or her intercollegiate athletic eligibility and/or be a member of the graduating class, earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, been a participant in a Big Sky-sponsored sport, and completed at least two years of intercollegiate competition at the institution.

SNEHA SHARAN
• Completed her fourth season with the women's golf program
• Graduated in May Summa Cum Laude with a psychology degree and a 3.955 GPA
• Named to the Dean's Honors List all eight semesters at Sacramento State
• Recipient of Sacramento State's Female Hornet Award
• One of the top players in program history, Sharan was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season
• A native of Bengaluru, India, Sharan began her collegiate career with little competitive golf experience
• Despite not making the starting lineup in any event as a sophomore, she remained an incredibly supportive teammate and had a work ethic that eventually turned her into one of the most dominant golfers in school history
• Set the school single-season record by averaging 71.80 strokes per round in 30 rounds
• Became the first woman to break 72.00 in a season for the Hornets, and finished her senior season even relative to par
• Placed in the top 20 in her final five tournaments of the season, and seven of the last eight
• Had 18 rounds of par or better which set the school single-season record
• Became a role model for the younger players who were trying to make an impact on the team
• Organized a myriad of team activities throughout the season
• Volunteered at dozens of youth golf camps throughout the Sacramento area
• Volunteered her time as a golfer to help raise money for children's charities in the Sacramento area

MILES GRANT
• Completed his fourth season with the track & field team
• An art major, Grant graduated in May Magna Cum Laude with a 3.87 GPA
• Named to the Dean's Honor List all eight semesters at Sacramento State
• Recipient of Sacramento State's Male Hornet Award
• An eight-time Big Sky Conference all-academic selection between indoor and outdoor seasons
• Became the school's first Div. I All-American in the men's high jump after qualifying for the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championship
• Finished in a tie for first place at the NCAA West First Round after clearing a career-best 7-01.50
• That height is tied for third in school history, trailing only marks from 1979 and 1980
• Cleared at least 6-11 in five outdoor meets
• Opened the year by setting his indoor PR with 7-02.50 to rank second in school history
• Won both the Big Sky indoor and outdoor titles two straight years in the high jump (2024, 2025)
• Served as Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Team captain as a senior
• Distributed leftover food from various events to the homeless
• Volunteered multiple times for the Read Across America Program at elementary schools
• Participated, and aided, in the breast cancer awareness walk in the fall
• Participated in the suicide prevention walk in the spring
