SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State signed local product
Jayden Teat, who starred at both Capital Christian and Jesuit High Schools, it was announced today by Hornet first-year head coach
Mike Bibby.
Teat will transfer from the University of Utah, where he spent his first two collegiate seasons. He will be a sophomore with the Hornets after redshirting this past season.
Teat becomes the third player to sign with the Hornets in the last three days. He is the sixth player to sign with the program since Bibby was named head coach. Teat joins senior forwards
Jeremiah Cherry and
Shaqir O'Neal, sophomore guard
Mikey Williams, and freshmen guards
Romari Robinson and
Taj Glover. Local product
Mark Lavrenov, a forward, also signed with the program during the early signing period.
The Teat File
• A 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard from Sacramento
• Played two seasons at Utah of the Big 12 Conference (2024-25), and the Pac-12 Conference (2023-24)
• Will be a sophomore for the Hornets
• Redshirted this past season (2024-25)
• Played in 18 games for the 2023-24 Utah squad that finished with 22 wins and reached the NIT semifinals
• Had seven points vs. Arizona State in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament opener
• A 2023 graduate of Capital Christian High School in Sacramento
• Played his senior season at Capital Christian, after playing three years at Jesuit High School of Sacramento
• Team captain and all-district after helping lead Capital Christian to a 20-9 record (10-2 league)
• Played in all 29 games, averaging 14.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 49% (55-112) from 3PT
• All three years at Jesuit HS were on the varsity squad where his scoring average went up every year, including 13.8 ppg as a junior
• Four-year member of the honor roll
• Father, uncle and aunt all played Div. I basketball, while mother, and two uncles ran Div. I track & field
