SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State senior guard Larry Hughes II has been named to the Big West's preseason all-conference team.

Hughes becomes the Hornets' first-ever Big West preseason all-league choice, as Sacramento State is entering its first year in the conference. The award is voted by the conference's coaches, and Hughes is one of six players from the 12-team league to receive the preseason accolade.

Hughes, a transfer from CSUN, is very familiar with the conference as he was a second team all-Big West and second team all-district selection a year ago. Hughes is one of 11 newcomers to the Hornets as Sacramento State played its 30th and final year in the Big Sky Conference last season.

The Hughes File
• Played the 2025-26 season at CSUN, after spending three years (2022-25) at St. Louis
• Redshirted the 2024-25 season at St. Louis
• Last year at CSUN, he was a second team all-district and second team all-Big West selection
• Led the Matadors in scoring, and ranked fourth in the Big West with 17.7 ppg
• Also averaged 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 3.7 free throw attempts and 31.5 minutes per game
• Shot 40% (101-256) from the 3-point line, and the 101 3-balls were third most in CSUN history
• Led the Big West in both 3-pointers made, and 3-pointers made per game (3.1 per game)
• Scored in double figures in 29 of 33 games, including 12 games with at least 20 points
• Had a career-high 34 points in a Big West Tournament victory over UC San Diego
• In 98 career collegiate games, he has buried 171 3-pointers, shooting 38% (171-449) from distance

• The five players joining Hughes on the preseason all-conference team were UC Santa Barbara guards CJ Shaw and Miro Little, CSUN guard Josiah Davis, Cal Poly swingman Hamad Mousa, and UC San Diego forward Leo Beath
