SESSOMS ADDS TO THE MANTEL WITH ALL-REGION HONOR

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Junior forward Donovan Sessoms became part of a select group of Hornet greats on Tuesday morning, becoming just the seventh Sacramento State men's soccer student-athlete named to the United Soccer Coaches' All-Far West Region honor roll in the program's Division I history.

Sessoms, who picked up second-team honors following his second season in the green and gold in 2025, becomes the first Hornet to earn all-region honors since Austin Wehner made the third team in 2022. Other Sacramento State all-region selections include Joe Enochs (second team) in 1991, Sean Luigs (second team) in 2001, and the duo of Ernesto Carranza (first team), Fernando Cabadas (second team) in 2009, and Paul Geyer (third team) in 2017.

The Antelope, Calif., native was one of 11 players from the Big West Conference honored on Tuesday joining five from UC Irvine, two each from UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton, and another from Cal Poly.

Now a two-time All-Big West honoree after picking up all-conference second team laurels back in November, Sessoms became only the fifth player in program history to earn multiple All-Big West awards after finishing with a pair of goals and three assists to tie teammate Allbranly Gue atop the Hornets' scoring list.

A focal point of opposing defenses all season, Sessoms started 15 of his 17 appearances on the year, opening with his team's goal against nationally ranked Stanford and adding another score in a 2-1 win over conference rival UC San Diego on Oct. 25. In between, he posted assists against Utah Tech, Grand Canyon, and Cal Poly.

He finished the season ranked seventh in the Big West in shot attempts (39) and shots per match (2.29), while standing tied for fifth in shots on goal (17) and fifth in shots on goal per game (1.00). He also tied for 12th in assists.
