BEACH VOLLEYBALL WRAPS UP FINAL DAY OF THE BIG WEST CHALLENGE

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State played three times on the third and final day of the Big West Conference Challenge at Hornet Beach.

The Hornets hadn't played at home all season prior to the tournament, but saw plenty of action on their home sand over the last three days. Sacramento State played six times during the tournament, after playing its first 13 matches of the season away from home.

All seven beach teams in the Big West were at the tournament, which was co-hosted by Sacramento State and UC Davis. In today's matches, the Hornets fell to a pair of ranked teams in 12th-ranked Hawai'i and 9th-ranked Cal Poly, as well as UC Davis.

Of the six teams the Hornets faced at the tournament, three were nationally ranked, including 7th-ranked Long Beach State.

Sacramento State will not play again until hosting a two-day tournament April 5-6 at Hornet Beach. The Hornets will be joined at the tourney by Pacific, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Louisiana-Monroe. That tournament will conclude a 10-match homestand, and will be the Hornets' final home contests of the season.
