SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State had little trouble with Seattle U, winning the doubles point and quickly taking three singles matches on the way to a 4-0 victory over the Redhawks on Sunday afternoon on campus.
The Hornets were leading at each of the other three singles matches when the contest was halted because the four points had already been secured.
Sacramento State improved to 9-5 overall, and 8-1 at home. The Hornets will now jump back into Big Sky Conference play where the team will play six straight league opponents, beginning Wednesday at home vs. Idaho State.
Mark Keki (6-4, 6-1 at No. 1),
Jan Silva (6-0, 6-2 at No. 3) and
Adam Chodur (6-1, 6-1 at No. 4) each won their singles matches in quick fashion.
Mate Voros,
Rudolfs Aksenoks and
Michael Kaplan had all won the first sets of their matches when play was halted.
Chodur continues a remarkable run of tennis that has seen the sophomore go 10-1 in singles play this season, primarily at the No. 4 spot in the lineup. All 10 of those victories have come in straight sets, and his only loss came in three sets (6-4 in the third). He upped his winning streak to five straight.
In doubles play, Keki/Voros (No. 1) and Silva/Jan Novak (No. 3) were both victories to secure the point.
Sacramento State is back in action this Wednesday at home vs. Idaho State at 10 a.m. The Hornets and Bengals were supposed to play earlier this month, but that match was postponed due to rain.
