LAHAINA, Hawaii — The Sacramento State men's golf team completed the fall portion of its schedule by finishing 15-under par at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Monday. The Hornets placed 14
th out of 21 teams and owned the best score among the four Big West Conference teams in the field.

Luke Dugger led the team and tied for 24
th overall with rounds of 68-71-67-206 to finish 7-under. The 54-hole total was the third-lowest of Dugger's Sacramento State career and is tied for the ninth best in school history. Dugger opened the third round with a birdies on Nos. 6 and 7 and added a third on the par-5 ninth. He continued his run on the back nine with birdies on the Nos. 12 and 16 to accompany seven pars. After three more pars, his lone bogey of the round came on the par-4 fourth hole to leave him at 4-under for the day.

Zach Matzke shot 69 on Monday and tied for 58
th place at 68-74-69-211. The score was six shots better than Matzke's previous 54-hole total. He birdied two of his first three holes and was never over par during the round. Standing at 1-under through 15 holes, Matzke birdied No. 6 and ended the tournament with two pars.

Max Thomas and
Zach Mate each shot 73 during the final round. Thomas tied for 63
rd overall at 72-67-73-212. His third round was comprised of three birdies and five bogeys. Mate tied for 72
nd with a three-round total of 70-71-73-214. On Monday, he had four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey.

Patrick Dumag tied Matzke for 72
nd place following a third round of two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.

Oklahoma led wire-to-wire and finished at 42-under to win the tournament. The second-ranked Sooners were six shots better than Colorado while Kansas (35-under), Indiana (34-under) and fifth-ranked LSU (33-under) completed the top five.

Oklahoma's Jaxon Dowell and Clark Van Gaalen finished first and second in the individual standings. Dowell was 17-under (63-66-67-196) while Van Gaalen was one shot back. Both were competing as individuals in the tournament and did not count towards the Sooner's team score.

The tournament was the fifth and final event for Sacramento State during the fall. The team will next compete at the Orange County Collegiate on Feb. 10-11. Dugger had the lowest scoring average for the Hornets during the season, finishing at 70.20 in his 15 rounds. The graduate student had eight rounds under par and two at even par during the season while averaging 0.80 strokes under par.
