LAHAINA, Hawaii — Max Thomas shot 67 and
Patrick Dumag a 70 to both finish under par and record the lowest scores for the Sacramento State men's golf team in the second round of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Sunday.

The Hornets followed an opening round team score of 8-under par with a 5-under on Sunday and are in 12
th place heading into the final round on Monday. Oklahoma, which is second in the NCAA Div. I rankings, holds a 5-shot lead over Kansas in the team standings. The Sooners are 31-under as a team.

Thomas posted his second-lowest round of the season with five birdies and a bogey. He began play with a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole and dropped to 2-under with a birdie on No. 12. His only bogey of the day came on the par-3 17
th but he quickly bounced back with birdies on Nos. 1 and 2. The freshman parred his next five holes before ending the round with a birdie on the par-3 eighth. His two-round total of 72-67-139 has him at 3-under par and tied with
Luke Dugger for 38
th place overall.

Dumag was 1-under during the second round and is 2-under par for the tournament to tie for 45
th place. The senior birdied No. 9 (his third hole) and then played his final 15 holes even. After a pair of bogeys on Nos. 12 and 13 he birdied the par-4 14
th and par-3 15
th to get back to 1-under. A birdie on the par-5 first was trailed by a bogey on the par-4 fourth.

Dugger was even on Sunday and has rounds of 68-71-139. Dugger parred his first six holes and then birdied the par-4 14
th. Bogeys on Nos. 17 and 4 placed him at 1-over but he ended his round with a birdie on the par-5 sixth to get back to even.

Zach Mate was also even in the round with four birdies and four bogeys. Mate is tied for 54
th place at 70-71-141. On Sunday, his first birdie came on No. 9 to get him to 1-under. A bogey on No. 14 was followed by a birdie on the par-3 15
th to keep him there. After a bogey on No. 18 he birdied Nos. 1 and 3 to stand at 2-under for the first time during his round. Mate bogeyed Nos. 4 and 6 before ending with a par.

Zach Matzke also competed for the team on Sunday and shot 74 to finish at 3-over. Matzke is even over the two rounds and is tied for 64
th place. On Sunday, he had a birdie, two bogeys and a double bogey.

Oklahoma's Jaxon Dowell holds the individual lead at 63-66-129. Dowell, who is competing as an individual, is two strokes ahead of East Tennessee's Kristian Bressum and three shots ahead of two others.

The third round will have a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. PT. The Hornets will be paired with Colorado, Gonzaga and Louisiana Tech.
