LAHAINA, Hawaii — Luke Dugger and
Zach Matzke each shot a 3-under par round of 68 to guide Sacramento State to an 8-under par team score in the first day of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.

Dugger started his round with seven consecutive pars beginning on the 12
th hole. His first birdie came on the par-5 first and he added birdies on Nos. 3 and 4 to get to 3-under. A bogey on the par-4 fifth was followed by consecutive birdies on Nos. 6 and 7 to move him to 4-under. After three pars, he closed his round with a bogey on the par-4 11
th.

Matzke recorded the lowest round in his collegiate career, topping a 69 which came last season. Matzke was 3-over through his first five holes with a birdie on No. 15, a bogey on No. 16 and a double bogey on the par-4 18
th. Once on the front side of the course, he birdied Nos. 1 and 3 and bogeyed the par-4 fourth to stand at 1-over. He returned to even with a birdie on the par-5 sixth and added an eagle on the 485-yard, par-5 ninth. Matzke parred Nos. 10-12 and ended with a birdie on the par-4 13
th.

Patrick Dumag and
Zach Mate each shot 70 to complete the team score. Dumag was even through his first 11 holes with a pair of birdies and bogeys. He dropped below par with an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole and then birdied the par-4 seventh. The senior parred four of his final five holes with the exception being a double bogey on the par-4 10
th.

Mate was 1-over at the midway point of his round with two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey. He made his move with birdies on Nos. 4, 7 and 9 to get to 2-under. After two pars, he bogeyed the par-4 12
th to close his round.

Max Thomas shot 72 to finish the first round at 1-over. The freshman had two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey.

Second-ranked Oklahoma holds the team lead at 20-under. The Sooners are followed by North Florida (18-under), Indiana (16-under), fifth-ranked LSU (16-under), East Tennessee State (15-under) and Kansas (15-under) in the top five.

Oklahoma's Jaxon Dowell, who is competing as an individual, had the low score of the day at 8-under. Three other golfers are one stroke behind and tied for second place while five others are tied for fifth at 6-under.
