SEASIDE, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's golf team completed the first round of the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Championship at 14-over par on Monday at Bayonet GC. The Hornets were led by
Patrick Dumag who shot 74 and is 2-over par.

Dumag began the round with a bogey on the 10
th hole and was 3-over at the turn. He birdied the par-4 third to go along with eight pars on the front side of the course to finish at 74. His score has him tied for 34
th place and puts him eight shots off the lead of Sam Houston's Bret Gray.

Luke Dugger,
Max Thomas and
Zach Mate each shot 76 on Monday. Dugger had the best start on the team, standing at 1-over through the back nine with a birdie on the par-5 18
th and two bogeys. He was 3-over on the front side after a double-bogey on the par-4 second and a bogey on the par-3 fourth. Thomas posted two birdies and six bogeys on Nos. 10-18. He opened the front nine with a birdie on Nos. 1 and was even on that side of the course with a bogey on No. 3 and seven pars. Mate also had a tough start with a birdie and five bogeys over his first seven holes to stand at 4-over. He played his remaining 11 holes even with birdies on Nos. 18 and 1 and bogeys on Nos. 2 and 3. The trio are tied for 57
th place

Gabriel Smith finished with a round of 79 and is tied for 76
th. Smith had three birdies, six bogeys and a pair of double bogeys. The team was also represented by
Zach Matzke who was playing as an individual. Matzke shot 77 with a birdie, four bogeys and a double bogey in the round.

BYU was 7-under par as a team and holds a 1-stroke lead over Sam Houston. Santa Clara and Pacific are tied for third at 5-under while SeattleU (2-under) and Loyola Marymount (1-under) round out the teams below par.
