STOCKTON, Calif. — Luke Dugger shot a 2-under par round of 69 and was one of three Sacramento State golfers to record a round of par or better during the second day of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Tuesday at Stockton Country Club. The Hornets were 3-over as a team during the day and sit in 11
th place heading into Wednesday's final round.

Dugger had a very quiet round of 69. The graduate student parred the first eight holes and then dropped into the red with a birdie on the par-4 ninth. He opened the back nine with four pars, birdied the par-5 14
th, and added four more pars to complete a bogey-free day.

Max Thomas shot 70 for the second straight day and is tied for 21st overall. Thomas was 1-over on the front side of the course with eight pars and a bogey on the par-3 third. He birdied the par-4 10
th and 12
th holes to accompany seven pars on the back nine.

The third-lowest score for a Sacramento State golfer in the round belonged to
Zach Matzke who was playing as an individual. Matzke started off the 10
th hole with a double bogey and made the turn at 3-over following bogeys on Nos. 15 and 18 and a birdie on No. 16. He rallied on the front nine with four birdies (Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 7) and just one bogey on the par-3 third.

The team also counted a 72 from
Zach Mate who was 1-over par. Mate bogeyed the first hole but returned to even with a birdie on No. 2. He had six pars as well as a bogey on the par-4 fourth to leave him 1-over at the midway point of the round. Mate, once again, was even after a birdie on the par-3 11
th and remained there until bogeying the par-5 16
th.

Other scores for the team included a 73 from
Jai Bahl, 76s from
Gabriel Smith and
Patrick Dumag and a 78 from
Jake Aberle.

Pacific was 14-under as a team during the second round and took over as the overall leader of the tournament with a two-round total of 545. The host Tigers are followed by San Diego (547), California (555), Grand Canyon (558), Washington State (564) and California Baptist (564) in the top five.

The individual lead belongs to Pacific's Travis Robbie who has rounds of 66-68-134 and holds a 1-stroke lead over four golfers who are tied for second.

Sacramento State will start the third round on Wednesday off the 10
th tee beginning at 9:24 a.m. The Hornets will be paired with UC Irvine and UC San Diego during the day.
