MEN’S TENNIS SWEEPS A PAIR OF OPPONENTS, IMPROVES TO 4-1

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State took little time to sweep a pair of opponents at home on Sunday, dispatching of both Fresno Pacific and American River College by 7-0 scores.

The victory was the third straight for the Hornets, who improved to 4-1 on the young season.

Sacramento State used all nine players on the roster, and each of those nine won at least one singles match. Rudolfs Aksenoks, Hayden Rand and Jan Silva each went 2-0.

Of the 12 singles matches in today's doubleheader, 11 were won in straight sets. Eight of those victories saw the opposition win just four games or less during the entire match.

Doubles play also went smoothly for the Hornets, who went 5-0, including Rand and Adam Chodur going 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Also picking up singles wins today were Chodur, Michael Gravel, Michael Kaplan, Mark Keki, Jiri Novak and Mate Voros.

Sacramento State will now begin a season-long four match road trip that will see the team travel to Saint Mary's (Feb. 3), San Francisco (Feb. 9), Stanford (Feb. 10) and Pacific (Feb. 24). The Hornets are not home again until opening Big Sky Conference play on March 1 vs. Idaho State.
